About Maharaz
A software engineer who learned that delivery is about people
A software engineer by foundation. A project leader by practice. A public-service and community-minded leader by commitment.
01
Foundations
Learning to build, far from home
I studied Software Engineering at Universiti Putra Malaysia from 2017 to 2022. Being an international student taught me as much as the degree did: how to navigate unfamiliar systems, how to work in mixed teams, and how much a well-designed process helps the people moving through it.
I served as Undergraduate Liaison Officer for the Naijacomm International Student Association, and took my first professional step as a Business Analyst Apprentice at KLCC Property Holdings, writing requirements and process models for an IoT water-quality monitoring system.

02
Engineering
From specifications to working software
At Enviro Exceltech in Kuala Lumpur I led development of an application: gathering requirements, designing the architecture, building backend services on Firebase and REST APIs, and testing it to release. It was the first time I owned a build end to end.
Back in Nigeria, I joined Galaxy Backbone as an IT Specialist, supporting internal users and working with the Security Operations Centre. I later completed a Professional Diploma in Cybersecurity at Baze University (2024–2025).
03
On the ground
Leading where there is no dashboard
Between late 2023 and early 2024 I managed small-scale mining operations for El-Zumjit Commercials in Kano: workers, logistics, budgets, safety and secure mineral handling. The work depended on trust with site workers and nearby rural communities, so I spent time on site with them rather than managing from a distance.
I also represented the company alongside its Managing Director at the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh.

04
Delivery
Project management and digital transformation
Since March 2024 I have been a Project Manager at Gems Consulting, managing Microsoft Dynamics 365, Business Central and Power Platform engagements for several client entities at once, with teams of consultants and developers.
I completed a Master in Project Management at Rome Business School in 2025. The degree gave structure to what the job was already teaching: plan carefully, surface risks early, and treat adoption as part of delivery.
05
Institutions
Understanding how public institutions work
In 2025 I was a fellow of the Legislative Mentorship Initiative, Cohort 4, representing Kano and serving as Deputy Minority Leader in the fellowship's parliament. Since January 2026 I have served as a Senior Legislative Aide in the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
This public-service work is kept separate from my commercial consulting. What it adds is perspective: an understanding of how institutions set priorities, and why technology in the public sector has to earn public trust.

06
Community
Young people, organised
I served as Secretary General of YALI Network Kano from January 2025 to January 2026, chair Young Crew IPMA Nigeria, and coordinate the Africa Bridge Initiative in Kano State. These roles are mostly about organising: committees, partners, volunteers and the logistics that make a programme happen.
Looking ahead, I want to keep working where technology, institutions and young people meet, helping systems in Nigeria and across Africa work better for the people they serve.

Values
Integrity. Peace. Humility.
The three words around my mark, with an interlaced northern knot at its centre. They are the standard I hold myself to across commercial, public and community work.
